Steven Gerrard wants to add Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper to his new-look Rangers side, but that’s looking increasingly unlikely after a Sky Sports journalist claimed that they have had four bids rejected now.
Jim White claimed that a source had told him that Millwall were adamant that the player wouldn’t be sold this summer.
He made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday morning.
Source tells me @RangersFC have made 4 bids for @MillwallFC defender Jake Cooper – London club standing firm that he’s not for sale.

This comes after the Scottish Sun claimed that Rangers were going to ready another bid after Millwall had rejected two offers, with the latter being for £3million.
OPINION
Millwall seemingly don’t want to sell Cooper and while every player has their price, Rangers can’t afford to bid much more if the reported £3million figure is correct. They’ve still got to focus on bringing an attacker or two into the club and the last thing they need is to be held to ransom by Millwall. Yes, Cooper would be a brilliant buy for Rangers, but we don’t think he’s worth anything over £3.5million. If Millwall think otherwise then it’s time to move on and wave goodbye to the deal. Gerrard’s back-up for Cooper is reportedly Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt and he’d be a much better buy at around £1million. That would leave Gerrard some money to bring in some attackers – much needed, especially with Harry Wilson looking likely to land at Championship side Derby. Rangers fans never really believe anything Jim White has to say about Rangers, and they’ll be hoping this is him just stirring the pot. One way or another though, the Cooper saga should be sorted out this week.
