A number of Celtic fans have been left arguing with former Hoops star and England striker Chris Sutton on Twitter after he insisted that John McGinn was a must-buy for Brendan Rodgers this summer.
The Bhoys have been heavily linked with a move for the Hibernian playmaker this summer, who is heading into the final year of his contract at Celtic’s Premiership rivals, but the Scottish Sun are claiming that after seeing two bids rejected, the Hoops are being asked for £3.5million for his capture.
Sutton, in his Daily Record column, insisted that Rodgers ought to pay the price now rather than wait it out, but Celtic fans have argued against it on Twitter, claiming that he is not worth the money being demands.
My @Record_Sport thoughts on the sense and importance of keeping Dembele for now… and it’s about time Celtic got Mcginn over the line for everyone’s sake… Your thoughts?? https://t.co/duklpoWJQY

This is Futbol have rounded up a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
Not for £4m. Ridiculous money for a player with a year to go.

Always rated mcginn but wouldn't pay 4m. For him especially when he only has 1yr to go

Opinion
It is fair to say that Celtic fans are not on Sutton’s wavelength when it comes to the signing of McGinn. While the outspoken pundit feels he would add something to the Hoops’ first team, the Parkhead faithful are not convinced of his quality, especially for the price tag which is being reported. They have a point – why splash out on someone who is no better than the options they already have when they could nab him for nothing next summer? Rodgers needs to decide whether McGinn is an absolute must, and if that is not the case, hold off making a move. Who knows, Hibs might be forced to sell him for cheap later on this summer.
