Celtic have made a transfer pitch to Liverpool forward Harry Wilson as they work on a double swoop ahead of a key deadline in the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim the Scottish giants are keen to sign Hibernian playmaker John McGinn on a permanent deal and Wilson on loan.

The Mail report Celtic are looking to boost numbers in their squad ahead of the trip to Armenia to face Alashkert on Tuesday and could land at least one of their new targets ahead of tomorrow’s (Thursday) initial Champions League signing deadline.

Good move for Celtic?

Landing McGinn and Wilson would be excellent business for Celtic, whose only signing this summer has been the conversion of Odsonne Edouard’s 2017-18 loan into a permanent transfer. Both players have different but important qualities that could provide solutions to the recent exits of Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts. McGinn is a creative midfielder who is proven in the Scottish Premiership and is available at a reduced priced as he enters the final year of his Hibs contract. Wilson is a rising star who is too good for youth team football and is ready to make the permanent step up to senior level after dazzling on loan at Hull in the second half of last season.

Likely to happen?

There is certainly a strong possibility Celtic can land one of the pair, but it might be asking to much to land them both, given the competition for their services. One thing in the Hoops’ favour is they have the financial resources to blow some of their rivals out of the water, including being able to offer a bigger loan fee than Rangers for Wilson.
