Everton are on the verge of making Watford attacker Richarlison their first signing of the summer, according to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Friday that the 21-year-old Brazilian is heading for a medical with the Toffees in a deal that is understood to be worth over £40million.

Everton are yet to make a signing this summer, but it appears that Richarlison is going to be the first player welcomed to Goodison Park by Marco Silva, who signed him at Watford last year.

Good move for Everton?

Richarlison really hit the ground running at Watford last season, scoring five goals before December as well as supplying four assists.

However his form did drop after that initial honeymoon period, and that may have been due to Silva’s exit from Vicarage Road after interest from Everton.

If Richarlison can recapture the form he showed in the first few months of last term, he will be a good addition for the Toffees, but if he is not, it could be yet another major waste of money for the Merseyside club.

Likely to happen?

With a medical scheduled, it looks as though fees and personal terms may have already been agreed upon so Everton look as though they are going to pull off a huge transfer for their first signing of the summer.

It’s a surprise that Watford would be willing to do business with the Toffees after the whole fiasco about their approach for Silva last year and eventually hiring him this summer.

But it looks as though differences have been smoothed out and the deal could actually go through, barring any late hitches.
