Manchester United are infamous for bringing big names to Old Trafford, and boss Jose Mourinho does not look as though he will let that reputation fade anytime soon.

United are considering a deal to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski according to the Independent, in what would be a smart move for the club.

The newspaper reports on their website that boss Jose Mourinho is in the hunt for the 29-year-old forward as he looks to breathe life in a rather frustrating transfer window this summer.

Bundesliga club Bayern Munich are willing to sell the Poland international – who starred for his country at this summer’s World Cup – to Mourinho, who has been a long-term admirer of the prolific Polish talisman.

Despite already having Romelu Lukaku leading the line for the Red Devils, the addition of another elite forward in Lewandowski would certainly be a lethal one that would leave many fans drooling, having bagged 41 goals in all competitions in Germany.

He is a player of vast experience and calibre having been at giants Bayern Munich for a while, and he is more than capable of linking up with Lukaku when necessary. United need all the goals they can get this season if they want to seriously challenge for the title, and Lewandowski appears to fit the bill perfectly.

It is surprising that Munich are willing to let the goal machine exit the door at the Allianz Arena this summer, but what will be their loss will be United’s gain.

His addition would surely propel them to the dizzying heights of the Premier League, and with such an impressive goal tally, they would be more than capable of tearing up the 2018/2019 campaign.

Now Mourinho needs to firm up the club’s interest in Lewandowksi in a move that could make a massive impact on their season.
