Wolves have entered the chase to sign Porto midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports on their website that the newly-promoted club have entered the chase along with Tottenham and Real Madrid to land the signature of the 25-year-old, who is currently dazzling for Colombia in this summer’s World Cup.

It is stated that agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to get the deal done after the attacker impressed in the group stages out in Russia, netting one goal and providing two assists, and will come up against England in the round of 16.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo would be reuniting with his former star, having previously worked with Quintero at Porto, who have sent him out on loan for the last three years.

Good move for Wolves?

Yes, absolutely. Wolves are lacking in the attacking department and the potential arrival of the Colombian international would enhance any threat the club currently have.

Wolves would be making a statement to the rest of the Premier League if they pulled off this transfer, especially if they beat the likes of Spurs and Real Madrid to his signature.

He will help provide the goals that Wolves will desperately need next season to avoid the drop, as well as the assists.

Likely to happen?

Yes, possibly. With agent Jorge Mendes working behind the scenes to get the deal done, then a move for Quintero will surely materialise quicker that originally thought.

Spurs and Real Madrid will provide tough competition for the Colombian, who may have his head swayed by European football – but with an agent like Mendes working to get the deal done, then Wolves should have high hopes.

Time to wait for his World Cup to come to an end and see where he eventually ends up.
