Tottenham are going to have to ramp up their efforts this transfer window if they are going to have any hope of getting their hands on Alassane Plea from Nice this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Spurs tabled a £21.9million bid for the forward only last week but after hearing in The Sun that Fulham and West Ham are lining up the £25m-rated hitman, they will need to speed their efforts up if they want to land him.

The Sun claims the player is waiting for the word to jet in for talks with possibly both London clubs.

The Lillywhites desperately need a striker who can offer a genuine goalscoring threat if and when Harry Kane is unable to make the side.

Last season, Fernando Llorente showed that he is not capable of taking on the role in the England striker’s absence, while Vincent Janssen has never had a look in and you’d have to think it’s just a matter of time before he exits White Hart Lane.

Plea has been in sensational form for the French Ligue 1 side and the fact that at 25, he is in his prime and amongst the goals in Ligue 1, means that Spurs must get ahead of their London rivals West Ham and make Plea their forward.

The former French U21 international scored an impressive 21 goals and seven assists in a total of 49 games across all competitions, including a one-in-two strike rate in the Europa League to prove he is not just a flat-track bully.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is yet to bring in a top-class hitman to rival Kane but in Plea, they could finally have found their man – they must go all out to stop West Ham.
