Journalist reveals Wolves are planning two more summer signings

|

Wolves are hoping to sign two more players before the summer transfer window slams shut on August 9, according to the Express & Star’s Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers.

The journalist reported the news on his personal Twitter account, revealing that the club are targeting a box-to-box central midfielder and a forward.

Spiers also stated that Joao Moutinho, who it’s been widely reported has agreed a move to Molineux, will join the club today, while Jonny Castro is likely to sign on loan from Atletico Madrid tomorrow – and the two signings are in addition to these players as their summer spending continues.

A further piece of information from Spiers was that Wolves’ £16million offer for Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko remains on the table, and that the club are interested in Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore, although nothing is happening on that front at present.

Wolves have invested heavily in their squad this transfer window ahead of their return to the Premier League. Rui Patricio and Raul Jimenez have arrived, while Diogo Jota, Willy Boly and Leo Bonatini have had their loan moves made permanent.

Good moves for Wolves?

Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad was already formidable before they began their recruitment drive this summer. With Moutinho and Jonny set to join shortly, as well as two more potentially on their way before the window closes, the Championship winners appear ready for a sustained stay in the top flight. They’ve done smart business so far, although there is precious little Premier League experience in the squad. Making the transition to the English top flight is never easy, and it’ll be interesting to see if the club’s final two additions have that experience or not. Zinchenko is a small step in the right direction in that respect, but that deal appears to be somewhat up in the air at present.

Likely to happen?

If Wolves are targeting two more players then it’s very likely they’ll secure them. Whether they can bring in their ideal targets in those two positions with time running out remains to be seen. Whatever happens, Wolves fans should be very optimistic for the upcoming season.
