Wolves have accepted a bid from Leeds United to sign Barry Douglas, and the Yorkshire giants are now negotiating personal terms with the wing-back, according to Express & Star reporter Tim Spiers.

The reliable journalist has claimed via his personal Twitter account that the Premier League newcomers have given Douglas, 28, the green light to enter talks with Leeds, who are yet to wrap up a permanent signing this summer.

The one-time Scotland international was in stunning form last season for Wolves, scoring five goals and supplying 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Good move for Leeds?

Douglas was in phenomenal form last season and was truly a key player in Wolves’ title-winning season that saw them return to the Premier League.

He can score goals, he can supply assists and most important he will fit perfectly into Marcelo Bielsa’s tactical system.

Leeds are devoid of a quality left-back at the moment.

Fans may rave about youngster Tom Pearce, but he is not yet the finished article and Laurens De Bock has been average at best since he was snapped up by the Yorkshire giants in the January transfer window.

Douglas’ impeding arrival can really give the fans something to shout about.

Likely to happen?

Leeds have struggled to make signings all summer, with just Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman arriving on loan from Chelsea.

They have made progress towards signing Douglas with Wolves accepting their bid, but will the Scotland left-back be willing to quit the Premier League to join a Championship club that, at the moment, does not look capable of a promotion challenge?

It will take some persuading and a big wage offer, but Leeds could really get this done if they try hard enough.
