Yarmolenko set to undergo West Ham medical tomorrow

|

Borussia Dortmund winger Andriy Yarmolenko is set to undergo a West Ham medical at their Swiss training camp on Tuesday, according to Zbirna.

The Ukrainian site claim the Hammers are closing in on the capture of the Ukraine international after offering £19.4million plus £2million add-ons for the player.

Zbirna report that two hitches have emerged to threaten the potential deal, namely the fee West Ham will pay Dortmund and the work permit the 28-year-old must secure to link up with the Premier League club.

Good move for West Ham?

Yarmolenko is a proven performer at his peak. He has a fine track record for clubs and country, and the fact he was not a first-team regular at Dortmund last season after his summer-of-2017 transfer does not mean he cannot make a big impact in London. Competition for place is intense at the Bundesliga giants and the Ukranian’s record was still creditable, with six goals and six assists from 26 appearances. With 35 goals in 76 matches for his country and an excellent record at Dynamo Kiev, West Ham would be getting a potent weapon for the right flank.

Likely to happen?

As Zbirna point out, neither the payment schedule of the transfer fee and the work permit should be enough to terminate the Yarmolenko deal. The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement on the fee, with the remaining hurdle appearing to be whether the performance-related add-ons are included in the guaranteed sum, which is what Dortmund want. With a medical seemingly scheduled immediately, that should soon be smoothed out. Meanwhile, Yarmolenko is an established international so should be able to get a permit.
