A number West Ham fans were all urging the club to get rid of Andy Carroll on social media after his goal scoring display in the pre-season friendly defeat at the hands of FC Winterthur.
The Hammers slipped to a 3-2 loss against their Swiss counterparts during their warm up for the new campaign, with Carroll and Mark Noble scoring for the east London club but still ending in defeat in what was Manuel Pellegrini’s first official match in charge since arriving at the club.

However, despite getting on the score sheet, many fans were left fuming on Twitter with Carroll’s contribution, with the former Newcastle United striker missing a penalty after Pablo Zabaleta was brought down in the box, and urging the club to get rid of the powerhouse.

Opinion
This bunch of West Ham fans might have taken their defeat to the Swiss side a little harder than they should have, for it is just a chance for the squad to build up their fitness. As for Carroll’s penalty miss, anyone can miss from the spot – just ask all those who have missed during this summer’s World Cup. he could play a crucial part of the Hammers’ season for the upcoming campaign, using his power and frame to lead the line – but he might not be put on spot kicks after this display. Still, he showed he knows where the back of the net is after his layoff, which should be the biggest boost to the squad.
