West Ham are on the brink of securing a bargain swoop for Vitoria De Guimaraes attacker Xande Silva, according to Record.

The Portuguese publication claim on their website that the Hammers have agreed terms with the Primeira Liga club on an initial fee of £1.3million (€1.5million) which could reach up to £3.3million (€3.5million) through bonuses and add on clauses.

However, it is stated that the Irons are getting something of a bargain swoop for the 21-year-old forward, who plays as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder, with the report claiming that he had a £13.3million (€15million) release clause in a contract that he penned last year.

Opinion

This is definitely viewed as one for the future by West Ham, with the report stating that he is set to head straight into the reserve side at the London Stadium, but if he can prove himself as a worthy attacker, he could well be a first team feature by the end of the upcoming campaign. The total fee of £3.3million is absolute peanuts to the Irons and if he makes a handful of Premier League appearances over the next couple of years, he will easily double his value and give the club a healthy profit if and when they decide to sell him on. Of course, there is no guarantee that he is in fact going to be a success and it will require hard work and dedication to push his way through the vast amount of attacking quality already in the first team, but the cheap price tag means there is not too much pressure riding on his shoulders, and he can simply go out and play his natural game for the reserve side in a bid to pick up some senior action later down the line.
