It is time for Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to cut the cord and show young winger Marcus Edwards the exit door whether that’s on a temporary basis or a permanent basis with talks scheduled regarding the player’s future over the coming weeks, according to Football.London.

The 19-year-old is highly rated by his manager in North London but has struggled to make any inroads into Spurs’ first team and similarly failed to impress during a short loan stint with Norwich City last season, where he made just one appearance before having his deal cut short and returning to the capital.

But this is a player that Poch once compared to Lionel Messi, so there have to be question marks either over the player’s attitude or his ability.

According to Football.London, Edwards wants first-team football and is unsure as  to whether he can get that or not at Tottenham.

But now that his career appears to be at a crossroads, something needs to give and with the chances of him breaking into the first-team minimal, Tottenham’s best option would be to sanction his exit on a loan basis.

This would give the North Londoners an opportunity to assess whether it is worth keeping the whizzkid on at the club or whether it would be best for him to continue his development elsewhere.

With talks due to begin in the coming weeks, it looks as though his fate will be determined sooner rather than later with a new club sure to be his destination as he is unlikely to usurp Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela any time soon.
