Since West Brom’s drop to the Championship last season, manager Darren Moore has undoubtedly been seeking out reinforcements to help his team achieve promotion back to the coveted land of the Premier League.

The Baggies’ attack is an area which is lacking, and new signings in that position would surely propel them back to the promised land.

The Mirror have reported on their live blog [12 July, 3.42pm] that West Brom have registered an interest in signing Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons, who it is safe to say has not had the most promising seasons recently.

The 22-year-old speedster was farmed out on loan to Serie A outfit Hellas Verona in January of this year, reportedly choosing the relegation-threatened club over a move to Championship outfit Hull City.

However, after starting his first two games for Hellas Verona as a winger, he mustered up nothing to help out his team, which means they lost those matches to Sampdoria and Roma respectively without really threatening their opponents’ goal.

West Brom do not need a player who is not guaranteed to provide the side with a genuine attacking threat – they need the exact opposite if they want the goals that will help them to glory in the second tier.

Aarons has not fared very well at Newcastle either – and is clear that boss Rafa Benitez does not rate him very highly if he has only granted the midfielder two league starts since he took up the helm.

Even though he is highly unlikely to get a look-in under Benitez, West Brom should steer well clear of him if they do not want to risk their league hopes.

Baggies boss Darren Moore should look elsewhere to reinvigorate his midfield, and not a player who has had a fringe role for the duration of last season – and he must avoid signing Aarons at all costs.
