With Newcastle United reportedly targeting West Brom striker Salomon Rondon they must stop the pursuit and instead focus on Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

As reported by Chronicle Live, Albion striker Salomon Rondon is Newcastle’s top target this summer as they look to sign a striker before the transfer window closes.

They must abort this reported move and instead move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, who would be a must better option.

The 22-year-old is a supremely talented forward with electric pace, a brilliant first-touch and more importantly, an excellent goal record. The Belgian has scored 48 goals in 89 games for the Scottish club, with an additional 18 assists, in what is an impressive record even for a striker.

Contrast this with Rondon’s record for The Baggies, he’s scored just 28 goals in 120 games at The Hawthorns. A strikers job is to score goals first and foremost, so there really is no comparison in terms of who is the better goalscorer. Also, with the striker being 28-years-old, there isn’t much room for improvement and will only get worse if anything.

As reported by Chronicle Live, the Venezuelan is available for £16.5million this summer, due to a release clause in his contract. Surely the Celtic striker wouldn’t cost too much more than that figure and even if he did, he’s most definitely worth the extra few million that Newcastle would pay.

The best thing about Dembele is that he can only get better, at such a tender age there is so much potential still to blossom, so he would be a great investment should he get picked up by a bigger club in the future.

Moussa Dembele would score more goals, contribute more in open play and be a better investment for the future. Forget Rondon Rafa, you must at least try for Dembele instead.
