Manchester United want to sign Croatia’s World Cup star Ivan Perisic but only if the club can sell Anthony Martial for the right price, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claimed in their website blog (19:47) that Perisic, who guided his country to the World Cup final, is in high demand and has pushed his transfer value up to £60million.

However, United are looking to offload Martial to make funds available for signing the Inter Milan attacker.

Martial is keen to beginning a new chapter away from Old Trafford and is also in high demand by high-profile clubs keen to landing his signature but United are wanting £70million for the Frenchman.

Good move for Man United?

Ivan Perisic is currently in the form of his life while Martial has faded since his transfer to the Red Devils three years ago.

It is understandable that Perisic’s transfer value has escalated rapidly after his performances in Russia, with Mourinho offering £40m for the Croatian last summer.

However, it is clear that Perisic has the ability to excel at United and, should the club complete the sale of Martial for their intended price, it would be considered a great deal.

Likely to happen?

Perisic has been on United’s transfer list for quite a while and the deal will be relying on whether Martial can force a move elsewhere.

While that factor is almost likely to occur, it is all down to how high the transfer fee can be for the Frenchman, as many clubs will be put off by £70 million for a player that was unable to get into the French national side which won the World Cup.

Nevertheless, Inter Milan will be very lucky to keep Perisic this summer but whether he ends up in Manchester by the beginning of the new league season is a different story.
