Italian champions Juventus are ready to make a stunning move to bring Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba back to the club, according to the Mirror.

The Frenchman famously signed for the Old Lady on a free transfer from United in 2012, only to return to Old Trafford in 2016 in what was then a record transfer fee of £89million.

The Turin club’s ambitious hierarchy are now looking to lure Pogba to the club for a second time, and, according to Corriere Dello Sport, are willing to sell star midfielder Miralem Pjanic to do it.

Pjanic has been attracting interest from across Europe all summer, and it appears Juventus will sanction his sale if it means they can bring Pogba back to the club.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot and Lazio’s Sergey Milinkovic-Savic are said to be the Italian champions’ alternatives if United refuse their advances.

Good move for United?

This is a tricky one. On the one hand, Pogba has never truly delivered the devastating form that saw him make that record move in 2016. On the other, he’s coming off the back of a tremendous World Cup victory with France in which he played a crucial part, and he should only now be starting to enter his prime as a player. He’s flattered to deceive at Old Trafford thus far, but why sell him when he might finally be about to fulfil his potential? On a personal level, Pogba may well like to return to a city that holds many happy memories for him, and link up with the recently signed Cristiano Ronaldo. But for United? This one’s best avoided.

Likely to happen?

Juventus may indeed want Pogba back in Turin, but the likelihood of United sanctioning a sale at this time seems very slim. Jose Mourinho has appeared frustrated with the Frenchman at times, but he knows how good Pogba can be and he’ll be loath to lose him when he’s still just 25-years-old.
