Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich says the club can win the Premier League if they sign Ivan Perisic this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Perisic is a long term target for the Red Devils, with a recent report from the Mirror suggesting the club will target the Croatian so that they can offload want-away forward Anthony Martial.

And Bosnich believes Perisic is just what United need to push them over the edge: “I would say they need one more player. I would love to see them go and get Perisic,” he told talkSPORT.

“They tried very hard last year to get him from Inter Milan. I think he would be an absolutely fantastic addition to the squad.

“If they get off to a decent start, I really think that they can go close to winning the title with the current squad that they have. But I would love to see them go and get Perisic.”

OPINION

It’s never surprising when you see a player come out in praise of their former side, so Bosnich’s assessment that United can go close to winning the title with their current crop of players should astonish no one. Everyone knows that Mourinho has long coveted Perisic, but with the 29-year-old starring in Croatia’s run to this summer’s World Cup final, Inter will be loath to lose their star man. The Mirror’s report stating that Perisic will be brought in to allow Martial to leave makes sense, with the amount United will get for Martial surely matching if not exceeding what they will have to spend on the Inter man. Whether Perisic would be enough for United to wrest the Premier League title back from their noisy neighbours remains to be seen, with City looking good for another spectacular season under Pep Guardiola. The threats of Liverpool and Arsenal have grown as well after a busy summer for the duo. A fascinating season is in prospect, that’s for sure.
