Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn is set to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan, according to a reliable journalist.

Dominic King, the north west correspondent for the Daily Mail, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday morning.

He said that Sheffield United had come out on top after a number of clubs were in for the talented attacker.

Good move for Liverpool?

Sheffield United have got a player than many Liverpool fans wanted to see get a chance at Anfield this season. The 18-year-old is already a full Wales international and has scored for his country. He’s also made 11 senior Liverpool appearances and has scored one there too, but he’s going to have to head down to the Championship to prove himself further to Klopp. If he wasn’t going to get a chance under Klopp this season then it’s a good move, but at some point these talented young players are going to have to be shown a route to the first-team or they’ll be forced to leave. And that will hurt Liverpool as a club.

Likely to happen?

It was just a matter of working out which club was best for the development of Woodburn after Klopp decided he had no immediate future at Anfield. That will have come down to guarantees of playing time and the club itself. It looks like Sheffield United have come out on top and the deal should be processed fairly rapidly now.
