Liverpool will force new Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to wait to find out whether he will be able to secure a loan reunion with winger Harry Wilson this summer, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the Gers have made a move to try and snap up the 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) attacker but that the Reds are sitting patiently as they try to decide whether to give the green light to his exit.

It is stated that the Anfield side will wait at least a few weeks before sanctioning the temporary departure of the 21-year-old, who dazzled during his loan spell at Championship side Hull City during the latter half of last season, netting seven goals and chipping in with a further four assists in just 13 outings.

Good move for Rangers?

The Light Blues certainly need reinforcements in attack but they cannot afford to be sitting around waiting for a decision from Liverpool.

They have crucial Europa League qualifying games on the immediate horizon and they know that making their way through those could define their season, not to mention bring in a healthy financial boost.

Wilson would be a very good signing at Ibrox but it would have to be sooner rather than later, for Gerrard knows how important having the time to work players into his squad will be.

Likely to happen?

If Liverpool continue to force the Gers to wait, then no, for they will seek a move for another target.

However, if the Reds do decide to send him out, Gerrard will be straight on the phone sealing a deal, and so this one cannot be written off just yet.
