Liverpool are said to be “well ahead” in the race for Roma and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, and it is the best news that Liverpool fans will get this summer. Until he officially signs!
He claims that Liverpool have “detached” Chelsea in the race for the keeper and that the two sides are very close to an agreement.
Di Marzio also claimed that Alisson and Jurgen Klopp have met, which proves negotiations are at a very advanced stage.
This would be a hugely important deal for Liverpool.
They couldn’t go into the new season with Loris Karius and Alisson is perhaps the best goalie that is available this summer.
It’s a huge amount of money but that’s just indicative of where the market is at the moment.
Alisson and Karius as his number two is a massive, massive upgrade, and leaves Liverpool just needing a new centre-back and maybe a striker to be real Premier League contenders.
With transfers like this, you start getting a feeling when things are close, and it seems like Liverpool are running away in the race for Alisson’s signature.
Roma seem to want to cash in and Chelsea were Liverpool’s nearest rivals.
The news that they’ve fallen away, and the news that Klopp is now involved, make this one seem very likely.
Di Marzio is a lot more reliable than a number of other transfer sources and he says it’s “very close” to happening. This would be a real coup for Liverpool and would move them at least one step closer to their main rivals, Man City.
