While Liverpool might have had one of the most potent attacks in both the Premier League and the Champions League last season, Jurgen Klopp would have been left sweating on the sidelines had one of his senior stars gotten injured.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane built up a deadly partnership which saw the opposition put to the sword with their pace, trickery and eye for goal.

However, behind them in the pecking order, the quality dropped significantly, with Klopp having to call on the likes of Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke and Adam Lallana – good replacements for most sides, but by no means up to the level that the first choice trio are at.

The lack of depth was proven in the Champions League final, Salah’s early injury forcing Lallana to come on, and he certainly did not have the fear factor that the Egyptian brought as Real Madrid strolled to their third successive European title.

As such, reinforcements are needed this summer, and they should be looking at the Spanish side for a new recruit.

Marca state that Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are all in hot pursuit of the La Liga side’s winger Lucas Vazquez, and after his performances at the Santiago Bernabeu, he is an absolute must buy for the Reds.

A versatile forward able to play on either wing, the 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) Spanish international was Real Madrid’s assist king, setting his team mates up for 16 goals across all competitions, five more than anyone else, while also managing to net eight of his own.

A proven talent on the European stage, his arrival at Anfield would be a major boost to their hopes of success, and give Salah and co the competition needed to bring the very best out of everyone.

Losing him to one of the London sides would only serve as a major regret this time next year, and Klopp needs to go all out and snap him up.
