Rangers have confirmed the signing of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on a season-long loan, with the 21-year-old becoming Steven Gerrard’s tenth signing of the summer.

As reported on the club’s official website, Kent joins the Light Blues for the whole of the 2018/19 season, becoming the third Liverpool player to sign this summer.

Kent is a graduate of the Liverpool academy, and the exciting winger has had loan spells at Bristol City, Freiburg, Coventry City and Barnsley.

It is hard to say whether this will be a good signing or not for Rangers, with Kent having failed to impress during two loan spells last season. Firstly, the youngster headed to the Bundesliga to play for Freiburg, where he struggled to make an impact at first-team level. He then returned to Bristol City for a second loan spell there, and once again did not make much of an impression. However, there is obvious talent there, with the 21-year-old being touted as an exciting wide player with quality delivery. If there is one man who can get the best out of him then it is Gerrard, who will know him well from his days at Anfield. It is also a signing which makes more sense following the Gers’ lacklustre opening tie in Europa League qualifying, with their attack in particular failing to shine, and signing Kent should hopefully go some way to remedying that.
