Werder Bremen manager Florian Kofheldt has held face-to-face talks with Everton attacking maestro Davy Klaassen over securing a potential summer swoop, according to Kicker.

The reputable German publication claim on their website that the Bundesliga outfit are plotting a move for the Dutch star, who has struggled at Goodison Park since joining from Ajax last summer.

It is said that Kofheldt skipped his club’s training session to meet with the 25-year-old in a bid to try and persuade him of a move to northwest Germany, and negotiate a potential deal which could seal his transfer.

Klaassen, who is known for his attacking qualities in an advanced role, managed to make just 17 appearances for the Toffees last season.

Opinion

Klaassen’s short career at Goodison Park always looked like coming to an end this summer after struggling in England, and a move to Germany should help he rediscover his talents and qualities which resulted in him being so highly rated across Europe. He is another of the many players who have flourished in the Netherlands’ top flight but struggled in the Premier League, and fans would think that clubs would have learned their lesson by now. Werder Bremen might not be the most high achieving club but they are certainly ambitious with a swoop for Klaassen, and if they can pull it off he could be their talisman for the upcoming campaign. As for Everton, it would be a deadweight out of the squad and off their books, as well as recouping some sort of transfer fee for his sale. He will not be the only exit of course, but for now, it is as good a start as any for Marco Silva.
