Richarlison set for Everton medical after fee agreed

|

Everton have struck a £44million deal for Watford attacker Richarlison and the forward will have a medical at Goodison Park on Monday, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper report that the two clubs agreed on a fee on Saturday after negotiating for three days, with Watford’s initial resistance to the deal fading.

The Mail claim that Marco Silva played an instrumental part in making the deal happen, with Richarlison now set to travel to Merseyside to complete the move.

Good move for Everton?

In footballing terms, yes, but Everton are paying a hugely inflated price for Richarlison here.

The Brazilian was mightily impressive under Silva to start last season, netting five goals before November, but the upheaval at Vicarage Road seemed to affect the youngster badly, and he failed to score again in 2017/18.

For the Toffees to be paying £44million for such an unproven player seems a bit mad, but if there is one man that can bring the best out of him it is Silva.

This is also a big statement of intent from Everton, with the club going after the targets that have been identified by Silva and director of football Marcel Brands.

Likely to happen?

It looks like this one is all but done.

Watford are getting a brilliant price which sees them make a huge profit in just one year, and Everton are getting a player they believe can become a star at Goodison Park.

All that is left now is for the medical to be completed on Monday and the paperwork to be finalised.
