FC Barcelona defender Yerry Mina is close to joining Everton, according to Goal.

The outlet report that the Toffees have made an improved £27million offer for the Colombian defender and that the Catalan giants are ready to accept the offer.

The report reveals that West Ham, Borussia Dortmund and Lyon have all made offers to sign the 23-year-old but Marco Silva’s side look to have stolen a march on their rivals.

The Colombian international only joined Barca from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January but he looks set to leave the Camp Nou this summer, and could be Everton’s second summer signing after the confirmed arrival of Richarlison.

Good signing for Everton?

Yes.

This could be a real boost for new Everton boss Marco Silva, not only will Mina boost the defensive solidity of his backline, he will also add a lot to the side moving forward in the attacking phase.

The Colombian is extremely comfortable playing the ball out from the back and moving into midfield, which is what Silva wants in his defenders in order to play his style of football.

He’s a massive threat from set pieces and has a really good pace too, so is a great signing overall for Everton.

Likely to happen?

It looks fairly likely after this latest development.

It seems as if Barcelona have got the fee that they were looking for, so now Everton will have to get to work on convincing Mina that Merseyside is his perfect next move, which will be no easy task.

It all depends on whether he fancies playing Premier League football, if he’s ambitious enough to do that, he should be able to handle the climate change and other factors.

If not, he’s better off staying in Spain.
