Everton have tabled a £36million bid for Bordeaux attacker Malcom but face stiff competition for him from Roma, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sports Italy correspondent reported on his personal website today (Friday) that the Serie A club have offered £31.3million including bonuses for the Brazilian.

Di Marzio claims Malcom has agreed personal terms with Roma and that the player would prefer a transfer to Italy as they await a response on their bid from Bordeaux in the coming crucial hours.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, definitely. Everton are not short of attacking wide players, but rising star Ademola Lookman appears keen for a permanent move to the Bundesliga, the jury is out of Theo Walcott and it has widely been reported Yannick Bolasie is up for sale. New boss Marco Silva clearly wants pace and penetration from his forwards, as well as far greater consistency than was seen last season. Malcom started and finished last season superbly, and has attracted interest from a number of leading clubs. He would be a fine signing for Everton.

Likely to happen?

The brilliantly-connected Di Marzio is the transfer king and if he states that Roma are the favourites for Malcom, you can bet your lift that is the case. Crucially, the player would appear to move to Italy and his representatives are working overtime to negotiate a deal with Bordeaux that suits all parties. Everton would need talks between the two Continental clubs to collapse to jump back into pole position.
