Everton are considering hijacking Juventus’ move for Italy Under 18’s international Samuele Mulattieri from Spezia, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper, as translated by reliable news outlet Sport Witness, claim in their print edition that the 17-year-old attacking midfielder is also a target for Serie A outfit Juventus as well as the Toffees, with his youth team displays warranting him with three Serie B outings for the Spezia senior squad.

It has been stated that Juventus have put in an offer for the youngster, but Everton could potentially land Mulattieri on a free transfer, only having to pay Spezia a compensation fee.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, quite possibly. The midfield maestro has netted 13 goals in 19 Primavera 2a matches last season, which is an impressive statistic for someone of his age.

He clearly has an eye for goal, and Everton would appreciate this hugely following the departure of Wayne Rooney to America.

The Toffees need improvement in their attacking department, and Mulatierri would fit the bill perfectly – he is young and full of energy, an element which needs to be injected into the Everton side.

Likely to happen?

May be – it remains to be seen. Inter Milan are apparently leading the chase for the teen attacker, which is not good for the Merseyside-based outfit.

Serie A giants Juventus are also in the chase to sign Mulatierri, so do not be surprised if he has his head swayed by the prospect of European football.

Everton need to make a suitable offer if they are to land the signature of the young Italian, otherwise he will be staying in Italy.
