Chelsea are plotting a £30million move to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey on transfer deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed on their website that the Blues are preparing a last-ditch move for the Wales international on August 9, who is currently in the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

There has been no agreements made over a new deal for the 27-year-old pass master but Arsenal boss Unai Emery remains confident that Ramsey will remain at the Premier League club this season.

Ramsey, capped 53 times by Wales, could potentially end up as a free agent next year if there no future contract agreements are made.

Good move for Chelsea?

Chelsea have already signed central midfielder Jorginho from Napoli and already have World Cup winners N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas in their side.

However, Ramsey is highly proven as a top performer for Arsenal, who will be desperate to conduct contract deals in order to keep the Welshman at the club.

To sign Ramsey for £30 million would be seen as a suitable deal considering he is seen as one of Arsenal’s best performers, winning the fans’ player of the season award last term.

Likely to happen?

Chelsea’s strength in midfield resources would rise even further if they were to land Ramsey but it is debatable if the Blues actually need him when they already bestow many world-class midfielders.

Paying a high figure for Jorginho shows that Chelsea may have already found their main midfield target and probably do not need another option.

Cesc Fabregas and Olivier Giroud have made the switch from Arsenal to Chelsea in recent years but I don’t feel Ramsey will be making the same move.
