Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is in Milan in an attempt to seal a double deal worth £89million for Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper’s front page (Thursday, 19/07), as translated by the Daily Mail, reports that the Russian has jetted into Italy to help agent Fali Ramadani push through a double swoop for the dazzling Juventus duo, talking to the Serie A giants over a transfer for the two players.

Abramovich has flown in to help finalise the details with Chelsea, who are hoping to complete the deal for Higuain and Rugani in time for the club’s pre-season tour of Australia this summer.

Good move for Chelsea?

The news that Roman Abramovich has flown into Milan to finalise deals for the talented pair may be music to the ears of Chelsea fans.

A double deal for Higuain and Rugani is a step in the right direction for the Blues, who will be intent on improving on their Premier League finish from last term and challenging for the title.

Huguain is a lethal finisher, and Rugani is a solid defender who can help stablise their central defence – both priorities for Chelsea.

Likely to happen?

Yes, definitely. The fact that Abramovich has got in on the act to finalise the deal indicates just how much he wants the two players at the club.

Maurizio Sarri’s arrival at Stamford Bridge means that he will want to bring in new players, and with Abramovich’s input, the duo could be joining forces very soon.

Gonzalo Huguain and Daniele could very well be Chelsea players imminently if Abramovich gets his way.
