Arsenal are interested in a transfer move for Sevilla and France enforcer Steven N’Zonzi, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster has reported on their official Twitter account that Unai Emery’s outfit are currently undergoing ‘talks’ to sign the defensive midfield ace.

The Daily Mail has recently reported that N’Zonzi has a £35million buy-out clause in his deal at Sevilla, where he has handed in a transfer request in order to try and force a move away from the Spanish club.

N’Zonzi has an international pedigree, and is currently away on duty with France at the World Cup in Russia, so any deal is likely to go ahead once France’s proceedings have ended.

Good move for Arsenal?

It could be.

N’Zonzi definitely has the potential to be a really good player, but you have to consider whether or not Arsenal should be pursuing other linked players with more priority.

The midfield ace could be the missing piece to Emery’s midfield, and the Frenchman has had some great performances in Europe over the past few years.

The former Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere possessed similar ball traits, and this could be a good replacement for Emery.

Likely to happen?

I don’t think so.

Arsenal have been linked with every midfielder under the sun since Emery’s appointment, and talks have seemingly progressed with Lucas Torreira.

N’Zonzi himself would like the move, as who would not want to play within the Premier League, but Emery has a number of irons in the fire.

Sky Sports is a strong link, however, so there must be genuine interest from the Club in the player, but whether or not any deal will happen remains to be seen.
