A section of Newcastle United fans have been drooling over the prospect of signing Danny Welbeck on Twitter following claims that the Rafa Benitez is lining up an offer for the Arsenal forward.
News outlet TeamTalk has reported that the Magpies are hoping to sign the 27-year-old on a season-long loan deal after he failed to make Unai Emery’s long-term plans at the Emirates.
It is understood that Newcastle are now plotting to make a loan offer for the England international, who scored 10 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions last season and is on wages of over £100,000-a-week.
Some members of the Toon Army have been loving the thought of signing Welbeck up, with one claiming he would be “over the moon” if a deal was completed.

Would absolutely love this, much better option for me, issue is keeping him fit but he will provide the goals if we can keep him that way?

OPINION
Welbeck has had a tough few years at Manchester United and Arsenal, where he has struggled with injury and has had to make do with being well down the pecking order at both clubs. He is very much out of his depth in the top six, but will flourish outside and these Newcastle fans are right to be happy with the prospect of signing him. Welbeck would definitely be a clever addition to Benitez’s attack, but can the Magpies afford him? Even though it is a loan, he is reportedly on big wages, so these fans may be let down in the end.
