Celtic have won the race to sign Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani on loan from Manchester City once the playmaker wraps up his move to the Premier League champions, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims via their website that Arzani, 19, is set to sign for City in a six-figure deal worth £280,000 from A-League outfit Melbourne City.

It is undersrtood that Celtic have seen off competition from PSV and Roma to land the five-times Australia international on a season-long loan deal, who will join up with Socceroos team-mate Tom Rogic in Glasgow.

Good move for Celtic?

Although Celtic are not in desperate need of central midfielders, it is beneficial for all parties concerned for Arzani to join the Hoops on loan as he will not be anywhere near to the first team at Man City.

The 19-year-old rose to prominence at the World Cup with three cameo appearances and is widely dubbed as the next best thing to come out of Australia.

For cup games or Scottish Premiership games against lesser sides, Arzani could be a good squad player for Brendan Rodgers and help him rest players like Rogic for the bigger games.

Likely to happen?

Everything about this deal makes sense. Man City are taking advantage of their affiliation with Melbourne City and have links to Celtic having sent Patrick Roberts there on loan over the past couple of seasons.

Arzani can also be taken under the wing of Australia team-mate Rogic, who is a similar type of player.

Celtic probably will not be expected to pay much of Arzani’s wages as the deal is more beneficial to Man City, so it looks as though this could happen.
