A section of Leeds United fans have lost their minds on Twitter after it was reported that the Yorkshire giants have seen a bid accepted by Wolves for wing-back Barry Douglas.
Douglas, 28, was in stunning form for the West Midlands club last season as they won the Championship title and now, Express & Star journalist Tim Spiers has claimed via his personal Twitter account that the Scotland international is discussing personal terms with Leeds, who strongly opposed Wolves’ transfer business last year.
I'm told that Wolves have accepted a bid from Leeds for Barry Douglas #wwfc

Personal terms now being negotiated. With Spanish wing back Jonny set to sign on loan and Wolves still in for Oleksandr Zinchenko at £16m, Douglas is deemed surplus to requirements. Not sure of fee.

Leeds have only signed two players on loan from Chelsea in what has been a frustrating summer for the club so far, however some fans have been left in meltdown following claims of Douglas being lined up by the Yorkshire club.
One excited Whites supporter now claims that the club is “going up”.

Be absolutely buzzing if we sign Barry Douglas from Wolves #LUFC

This would be a quality signing, Douglas quality from what I saw of him last season for Wolves, he was their best player when they came to Elland Rd and beat us last season. I hope this comes off!!! #LUFC https://t.co/JWXHrdZcjz

If we get Barry Douglas that’s a helluva statement. Guy was a beast last season. Hope we don’t mess this up. #lufc

OPINION
These Leeds fans have every right to be excited about Douglas. Without him, Wolves would not have dominated the Championship as easily as they did as he scored five goals and supplied 15 assists across all competitions from he left wing-back position. Leeds’ summer has been dull and frustrating so far, but if they sign Douglas, it would be a real statement of intent. He is brilliant going forward and as the Elland Road faithful know too well, he is good at set-pieces. Even Pigeon Detectives guitarist Ryan Wilson is drooling over the prospect of signing the Scotland international.
