Hearts forward Kyle Lafferty wants to re-join Rangers this summer as the Glasgow giants line up a second bid for the Northern Ireland international, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims via their website that Rangers have already bid £200,000 for the 30-year-old and while Hearts want nearer £1million for him, the Light Blues are plotting another six-figure offer worth less than £300,000.

It is understood that the Edinburgh club thought that the Gers’ opening bid for Lafferty was “an insult and disrespectful”.

The 6ft 3 (transfermarkt) colossus left Rangers in 2012 when he become a free agent in the wake of the club’s financial meltdown.

Good move for Rangers?

While some Gers fans may not forgive Lafferty for the way he left the club six years ago, the Northern Ireland international would certainly be a good signing for Steven Gerrard to make.

The former Burnley and Norwich forward scored more goals against Celtic last season than Rangers managed as a club, as he netted 19 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

He would be a very good addition to the Ibrox attack, which could do with bolstering for the Scottish Premiership season kicks off.

Likely to happen?

Rangers are going to be nowhere near Hearts’ valuation of Lafferty with their second bid, and it’s hard to see how the Tynecastle club will budge from their £1million price-tag.

Lafferty is a key player to Hearts, and as the deadline approaches, the Gers’ chance to re-sign him will start to diminish as the Edinburgh side will have little chance of being able to replace him.
