A section of Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the Merseyside club is in pursuit of Villarreal attacker Denis Cheryshev.
Spanish news outlet Marca has reported that the Toffees are interested in signing Cheryshev, 27, this summer after a truly dazzling World Cup performance with Russia.
The former Real Madrid winger scored four goals in five appearances for Russia as they reached the quarter-finals, where he scored a goal of the tournament contender against Croatia before losing in a penalty shoot-out.
Some Everton fans are loving the idea of signing Cheryshev before the transfer deadline next week, with many saying “yes please” to the idea.

OPINION
While potentially signing Cheryshev has got these fans exciting, it is not a signing that they can expect to see unless Ademola Lookman is sold. Marco Silva already has a number of options on the wings and it is unlikely that he would be in for Cheryshev unless Lookman is offloaded. The Russia international has hardly been good at club level either and his mesmeric World Cup display appear to have given a false perception of how good he is. Last season, Cheryshev scored four goals and supplied just three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. He reveled in the spotlight in Russia, but has ultimately failed to produce the goods on a regular basis in La Liga.
