Everton are spending crazy money on Watford star Richarlison

Everton’s craziness has just found a whole new level after it was reported that the Merseyside club are breaking their transfer record to sign Watford attacker Richarlison for a staggering £50million.

The Daily Mail reports that the Toffees are close to signing the 21-year-old Brazilian for a blockbuster sum of money that proves that Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri have not learned from their mistakes last summer by spending over the odds to complete deals.

It is understood that Marco Silva is eager to reunite with Richarlison at Goodison Park after a good start to his Premier League career last term.

He scored five goals in his first 12 league appearances in England, but after mid-November, he did not find the net again and was even axed to the bench on a number of occasions by the Hornets.

£50million would make Richarlison the sixth-most expensive Brazilian player of all time, and it’s really hard to see how his form at Vicarage Road has justified that fee when all you can really say is that he had a good few months and he is a promising young player.

Everton do not even need players like him yet either.

The Merseyside club is in severe need of a centre-forward after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku amicably last year and Silva’s defensive unit is also in need of a revamp with players ageing and getting worse over the last 12 months.

At the moment, they have enough wingers to suffice and could do with adding quality there, but attack-minded midfielders should really be the least priority at the moment.

Sorry, Everton fans, but this deal just fails to make sense.
