Adam Forshaw has reportedly suffered a long-term injury just before the start of the Championship and Leeds need to delve back into the transfer market to replace him.

They might have lots of cover in central midfield, but there’s no one that offers the quality and consistency of Forshaw.

Luckily there’s a ready-made replacement waiting for them and Brentford’s Ryan Woods would also complement Forshaw when he’s back.

Leeds fans will know Woods well. The 24-year-old midfielder impressed against Leeds in both games last season and plenty of the Elland Road fanbase would be delighted if some good could come out of Forhsaw’s unfortunate injury.

He’s been with Brentford for three years now, since signing from Shrewsbury for £1.3million.

Since then he’s made 127 appearances for the club and has been a mainstay in the side for three seasons, making 41, 42 and 39 appearances across his three campaigns in the Championship.

Woods was also on the radar of another Championship club this summer, with West Brom’s Darren Moore targeting him in a reported £6million move.

Brentford want to keep hold of him but wouldn’t be able to resist a big offer for a player who’s under contract until 2020.

Woods has a fantastic work ethic and a forward-facing footballing philosophy which would fit in well with how Bielsa is expected to set his team up.

With Forshaw potentially out for the long-term, a late summer move for Woods is surely now a must.
