Sky Sports have reported that a deal for Matej Vydra is far from dead in the water, and Leeds fans are absolutely thrilled at the potential deal being resurrected.
Sky Sports (transfer centre, 15.33) states that Derby are closing in on a £4million deal (rising to £8million if they get promoted) deal for Ipswich striker Martyn Waghorn.
However, they can only progress if Vydra moves to Leeds and Sky claims that personal terms are being discussed again after it looked like the deal was dead in the water over his wage demands.
Vydra doesn’t have a place at Derby now – that much seems clear. Too much water has passed under the bridge and Frank Lampard is busy chasing other targets, like Waghorn and Jack Marriott.
Vydra needs to play next season and he needs to do it at a club like Leeds, and that means he might eventually have to compromise his demands.
That’s the hope of Leeds fans anyway, who are thrilled that they might be landing a player who scored 21 goals in 40 Championship games last season.

If we can get #Vydra and #Douglas in the next few days, it would be amazing. Would fire up the fanbase and would give massive impetus heading in the stoke game. #lufc #LeedsUnited

Can’t wait until they do the kit launch and Douglas is modelling it, being carried through the haze of smoke machine on Vydra’s shoulders. #LUFC

If Leeds pull off Vydra and Douglas that would be insane?

OPINION
There are plenty of Leeds fans committing the cardinal sin here – don’t get too excited until a player has been officially announced. However, you can’t blame them here. First Barry Douglas, now the Matej Vydra deal could be back on again. And, as a couple of fans pointed out, signing the top scorer and the top assist-maker in the Championship last season would be pretty damn good business for any side. Has Vydra shown a willingness to compromise on his wages? If Sky is reporting that personal discussions have started again, then it would seem like there’s still room for movement.
