A number of Leeds United fans have been left fuming on social media after the club appeared to joke about the lack of transfer activity on their official Twitter account.
The Whites have only seen two new signings through the door at Elland Road in the shape of Chelsea loanees Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman, and following the end of the World Cup in Russia, the club thought it a good chance to make a tongue-in-cheek jibe about their business this summer on their social networking platform.
They posted a picture of a skeleton ‘live’ from their training complex Thorp Arch with the caption: “When the World Cup ends, and you’re waiting for your club to sign someone.”

However, fans were not impressed by their attempt at humour, with many urging the club to simply make some new signings in response to the post.

Opinion
It is fair to say that the club’s attempts of being light hearted over their transfer business this summer has not gone down quite as well as they would have hoped. It is understandable though, for after the elation of seeing Marcelo Bielsa through the door at Elland Road, the club have not followed it up with any meaningful captures. Baker struggled in the Championship last season while Blackman is likely going to take the place of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who can feel hard done by after his impressive performances last season. Both are loans, so the club still have not officially signed anyone themselves.
