A section of Celtic fans are reacting on Twitter after it was claimed that St Mirren are in talks with the Scottish champions about signing attacking Michael Johnston on loan this summer.
According to BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus, formerly of Hibernian, the newly-promoted club are negotiating with the Hoops over a temporary deal to take the 19-year-old to Paisley for the 2018/19 campaign.

Although Johnston has only ever made four first team appearances for Celtic and will have dropped further down the pecking order with the arrival of Lewis Morgan, some Celtic fans still believe that it is a bad idea to send the Scotland Under-21 international to St Mirren.

Will stunt his game.Needs to be playing for a more attacking team.Saints will be on the defensive,in most league games.

OPINION
St Mirren won promotion to the Scottish Premiership by playing attacking football, but some fans are right to be concerned that with new manager Alan Stubbs and their first season back in the top-flight, the Paisley club will be playing more defensively. However that does not mean that the loan spell won’t be any good for Johnston’s development. Some game-time in the top-flight is still better than none. It will be a big experience for him to get used to playing against the likes of James Tavernier and Shay Logan, rather that sitting on the Celtic bench or playing with the reserves.
