West Brom are moving close to hiring Graeme Jones as Darren Moore’s assistant, according to a Telegraph journalist.

John Percy reported that Jones is expected to start on Thursday after his stint on the Belgium coaching staff, which saw the team take third place in the World Cup in Russia.

Good move for West Brom?

A very good move. Jones has a lot of experience, having worked his way up as assistant manager at Swansea, Wigan and Everton, to the Belgium national side under Roberto Martinez. He was also offered a role under Gareth Southgate when the England manager was in charge of the Under-21s. Jones turned this down at the time as he was working under Martinez at Everton, and he moved on with him to coach the Belgium side. He shared the duties at Belgium with Thierry Henry. This is a good appointment by West Brom and it should fill in any of the holes Moore has.

Likely to happen?

His first training session is on Thursday so this is all done by the sounds of it, except for crossing the Ts and dotting the Is. Now the backroom staff are sorted, Moore and Jones can look forward to starting the Championship season off positively and looking to swing an instant return back to the top flight.
