Dean Windass has shockingly revealed that his son Josh Windass has a £3million release clause in his contract at Rangers.

After a claim by Express journalist Bruce Archer on his personal Twitter account which stated that Cardiff are poised to trigger the Gers attacker’s release clause, his father, of all people, announced that he can leave Ibrox for a small fee this summer.

Dean Windass was besieged by Rangers fans after hearing that Premier League new boys Cardiff wanted to sign his son, and he was surprisingly open when revealed details of Josh Windass’ contract.

When asked by a fan whether Josh still has a release clause in his deal at Ibrox, the Hull City legend said on his personal Twitter account: “£3million.”

He was pressed on the matter, and added: “Now that is right because he told me.”

OPINION

Dean Windass and Josh Windass need to delete themselves off social media. Josh is usually always doing or saying something to upset Rangers fans while Dean’s lack of common sense is just baffling. Why would he reveal this? Rangers clearly would rather Windass stayed with them for next season after showing that he has what it takes to be a good player last season. But this revelation is likely going to garner even more interest in the former Accrington Stanley attacker. You could say that Dean is trying to promote more interest in Josh, but given his previous posts on Twitter, you could definitely make a good case for that not being the case. Windass looks like to leave Ibrox this summer now. He’s been linked with moving to the English leagues for quite a while and Steven Gerrard may have to start finding a replacement before the end of the transfer window this summer.
