Tottenham have agreed to sell midfielder Mousa Dembele to an unnamed Chinese club, according to France Football.

The news outlet claims that a fee of £26.4million has been agreed between the two clubs, but the Chinese outfit will still need to negotiate a personal deal with the 30-year-old.

It is understood that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could ramp up interest in French enforcer Tanguy Ndombele if Dembele’s exit is secured.

The 21-year-old central midfielder is currently on the books at Ligue 1 outfit Amiens and was impressive during a loan spell with Lyon in the recent season.

Good move for Spurs?

Agreeing to sell Dembele is certainly a huge negative and he is one of the best players in the Spurs camp on his day.

The Belgium international may not quite be up to playing every game during a long gruelling season, but his combative approach and ability to keep possession makes him vital.

On the flip side for supporters it is good to hear that alternatives are already being considered and Ndombele is a highly-rated midfielder cut from the same cloth as Dembele.

He can help fill the defensive role in midfield in front of the back four, while he also chipped in with eight assists in 50 games and should improve as he is still just a youngster.

Likely to happen?

Dembele’s exit this summer is being heavily reported and the latest update is that a Chinese club has managed to agree a sum with Spurs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will end up there.

However, ending his time with Spurs definitely appears to be on the cards and a move for Ndombele as his replacement makes perfect sense.
