West Ham’s talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore has hit a major stumbling block due to his hefty wage demands, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Monday night that the deal will not go through unless the Argentina lowers his wage demands from £190,000-a-week.

Reliable West Ham news site Claret & Hugh has recently reported that Pastore is currently earning £190,000-a-week at PSG, and it appears that he will not be willing to join the Premier League club unless he can earn the same amount.

OPINION

Pastore is not worth anywhere near that much money anymore and there’s no chance that West Ham should meet them ridiculous demands. Pastore needs to realise that if he wants to play Premier League football, he is not going to get it at one of the top-six due to his lack of game-time at PSG in recent seasons and his injury record. The Hammers are offering him the chance to join the richest league in the world, but they will not be held to ransom with wage demands – and good on them. David Gold and David Sullivan have been accused of not spending enough money, but the fans should really agree with their stance this time. PSG offered Pastore more money than he’s actually worth and are now facing a mad scrap to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play regulations. Just because PSG are crazy enough to offer him that much, doesn’t mean anyone else should and if the former Palermo man wants to continue earning that much, he should look to move to China.
