Liverpool ace Sadio Mane is being linked with Real Madrid, as a report suggests that a deal was all but done between the Reds attacker and Spanish giants, according to France Football.

The Senegalese forward has continued to grow under Jurgen Klopp, and now he has reportedly caught the attention of the Champions League winners.

France Football report that a deal had almost been agreed and the move was all but finalised before, in a major development, Zinedine Zidane announced his departure from the club.

The tricky winger flashed this season, even scoring in the 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Madrid, but any deal going forth has been put on hold due to Zidane’s departure from the Spanish outfit.

Mane, 26, was brought to Anfield by Klopp from Southampton back in 2016, and scored 22 goals in his 49 appearances for club and country this season alone.

Good move for Real Madrid?

Sadio Mane is an electrifying talent, and strikes fear into the defenders he takes on. It has been noticed that, at times, the Senegal international can make a bad decision in front of goal, but he still scored 22 this season.

If the rumours surrounding Gareth Bale are true, Madrid will need a replacement, and Ronaldo is not going to be around forever, so Mane would fit the hole left behind if he was to continue in his development.

Mane would also fit Madrid’s style of play, with his lightning pace and counter-attacking abilities.

Likely to happen?

It is hard to imagine that Jurgen Klopp will be keen to lose the services of  Sadio Mane, who has become a mainstay in the first team under his guidance, and the Senegalese international was integral to the Reds Champions League run.

Reports in France suggested that the deal was all but finalised, only to be put on pause, and now any deal seems a long way off; with Zidane’s departure causing havoc in Madrid, it seems unlikely that any major transfers would be at the top of the priority list right now.
