West Ham have the perfect chance to revive their interest in defender Yerry Mina this summer after it was reported that Barcelona may have to get rid of the Colombia international this summer due to having too many non-EU players in their squad.

Spanish news outlet Marca claims that the £67,000-a-week centre-back is reluctant to leave the Nou Camp, but he is the most likely player to leave Barca – whether it be permanently or temporarily – with Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo on his way to Catalonia.

The Mirror reported last year that Mina was being targetted by West Ham in an audacious move that would have seen them hijack Barcelona’s attempts to sign him when he was still at Palmeiras in Brazil.

Obviously Barca beat the Hammers to signing the 23-year-old as he was unveiled as one of their players earlier this year, but it looks as though he is in line for a quickfire exit – and that hands Manuel Pellegrini the perfect opportunity to continue his defensive rebuild by signing up the Colombian colossus.

Mina, who stands at 6ft 4in tall according to transfermarkt, would be a quality addition at the London Stadium.

He is strong, tall and would be an improvement on what Pellegrini has recently inherited in the capital city.

The Chilean has already signed Issa Diop to bolster his centre-back options, but why stop there when Mina could be available on a season-long loan? The Hammers could also work in a deal to make it permanent in the future.

It’s an absolute no brainer for West Ham to revive their hunt for Mina this summer.
