Rangers forward Joe Dodoo is on the verge of leaving Ibrox to join Blackpool on a temporary deal, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims that talks over Dodoo, 22, joining the League One club are at an advanced stage, with Blackpool eyeing him up to bolster Gary Bowyer’s attacking options for the 2018/19 campaign.

The former Leicester forward joined the Light Blues in 2016 and was sent out on loan to Charlton for the first half of last season before being recalled in January after barely kicking a ball at The Valley.

Good move for Rangers?

Dodoo has no future at Ibrox and if anything, Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen should look to offload him on a permanent basis.

It is understood that Dodoo will join Blackpool on a season-long deal, so when he returns to Glasgow next summer he will have entered the final year of his contract.

That means he will not be as valuable then as he is now, so getting rid of him on a temporary basis may not be the best idea.

There are probably not many takers for the 22-year-old though, who failed to impress at Charlton last term.

Likely to happen?

Dodoo is probably not going to stand a chance of earning first team football at Rangers next season and it will be a real shock to see him still in Glasgow come the end of the summer.

Sky Sports claim that talks are well down the line and it does seem as though this transfer will be completed soon.

Gerrard now has the job of clearing out more deadwood like Dodoo.
