Nottingham Forest are among a number of Championship clubs in the hunt to sign Shamrock Rovers forward Graham Burke, according to the Irish Independent.

The newspaper claims that since Burke became a full Republic of Ireland international, Shamrock have been able to slap a six-figure valuation worth around £220,000 on the striker’s head.

Brentford and Blackburn are also said to be tracking the in-demand 24-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season, with three of them coming in the Europa League.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Burke has been in great form for Shamrock Rovers this season and it’s no surprise that he has earned a call-up to the Ireland national team where he earned caps against France and the USA.

The 24-year-old, who began his professional career at Aston Villa, scored against the States and showed that he has the potential the be able to move back to England.

However will he be good enough for a team like Forest?

Aitor Karanka needs to bolster his squad this summer, but Burke may not be able to replicate his form from Ireland in England due to the major gulf in quality.

Likely to happen?

It seems as though Forest’s interest is at an early stage and there are no suggestions that Karanka will really push forward for this deal.

Blackburn and Brentford are also interested and given that Rovers have just come up from League One, they may be more willing to pluck a striker from the Irish top-flight.
