Everton and Newcastle United are in the hunt to sign Sporting CP goal machine Bas Dost this summer after a major fall out with the Portuguese giants, according to AD.

The Dutch newspaper claims via their website that Sevilla are also interested in Dost, 29, after he was assaulted by hooligans at the Sporting training ground last month, leaving his future at the Lisbon club in doubt.

Dost, who stands at 6ft 5in tall according to transfermarkt, has been in prolific form during his two years in Portugal, scoring a stunning 61 goals in 61 Liga NOS appearances.

The Netherlands international has also been clinical in other competitions, amassing a total of 70 goals in 90 appearances across all competitions with Sporting CP.

However his time at the club looks as though it could be coming to an end and Everton are fighting Newcastle and Sevilla for his signature.

It would be an absolute masterstroke by Marco Silva if he was able to pull off a move for Dost.

He is a centre-forward who appears to have been born to play in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old colossus is physically strong, tall, clinical in front of goal and can score goals in a variety of different ways. He is as much of a complete forward that Everton could get their hands on this summer.

The Toffees should be able to blow away the other interested parties in the race to sign Dost as well.

The former Wolfsburg hitman may be out of Newcastle’s range financially and Sevilla will surely not be able to offer him the wages that Everton could.

Silva needs a new forward this summer to fire the Merseyside club into the European places and Dost is that man.
